MODULE 1: Introduction The Breath

Take a moment...slowly inhale, down deep into your belly...it is simply one of the most nourishing practices you can engage in to support the whole body, mind and spirit. Within a few moments you have the potential to completely rebalance all of the physiology simultaneously with the psychology of the human experience.

Here we will review the honoring awarenesses of Dr. Candace Pert and her work reflecting on the very molecules of emotion influenced by the breath and thought, Dr. Bruce Lipton, stem cell biologist, bestselling author of The Biology of Belief and recipient of the 2009 Goi Peace Award,  a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and international conferences, Jon Kabat-Zinn, an American professor emeritus of medicine and the creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the work of Gay Hendricks and his numerous works including the book Conscious Breathing in which he interlaces personal observation, testimonials and thought- provoking insight into how the breath articulates our daily lives.

The FDA now approves breath training as a recognized treatment for hypertension, and more than 1,000 additional studies show its effectiveness in relieving anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, and more. Dr. Hendricks is known for his acknowledgement of how a human being inhales nearly 20,000 times a day. This translates into possibly 20,000 opportunities to enhance and nourish our beings and potentially optimize our living every day. Our awareness of the breath and volitional choice to engage in breath work reveals a conscious choice in the Art of Living Well!

We welcome you to read, reflect, participate & experience The Art of Living Well through this course on line and also to join us at the center via webinar, video or in person to further extend and refine your knowledge and practices. The beauty of experiencing the breath work is that there is a cumulative and exponentially beneficial intrinsic awakening through the practices of breathing. Kudos to each and every one of you for opportunistically choosing an optimal health practice to deepen and  elevate your living! Bravo, Dr. Heather Kline Schaffer!
